Meet Our Team!
Here at Joyful Restoration Counseling and Wellness, we believe that God is bigger than any struggle that we face! When we shine light on our situations, He can come in and restore us. We are all enthusiastic about walking through life with individuals, couples, and families. Our team is made up of unique individuals who are all passionate about letting God’s light in. We each feel called to a specific group of people. i.e. addictions, anxiety, depression, children who need help processing and first responders/ military personnel. We believe God has healing in store for all of us. We strive to reveal any cognitive distortions or defense mechanisms. Reach out today and take a step on the right journey into a fulfilling life only God can bring! The therapists here are driven to walk with you and assist you in overcoming trials and achieving goals.
Although it may seem scary to sit with a therapist and talk about life, therapy is proven to be a very helpful resource. We know some of the stigmas that therapy holds such as “ therapy is for crazy people,” or “they’ll make me take medications.” These misconceptions are bold enough to drive anyone away but this is a lie driven by media. When you come and see a therapist this does not qualify you as crazy, it is actually a very brave thing! It is okay to need help! Counseling is a way to identify and overcome difficulties and challenges that we are not able to work through alone, especially if we are not aware of them. We can discuss issues within ourselves or issues that we may be experiencing with others in a healthy manner. There is no judgment in our sessions and we strive to provide guidance that will most benefit you. Regardless of the severity or intensity of the issue, we can all benefit from seeing a therapist- there is no such thing as an issue that is “too small.” Through therapy, an individual can release any emotion that they are feeling or any issue that they are currently facing.
Being a human comes with many different struggles. The challenges that we face may all look different to one another but no one is exempt from them. These experiences can leave marks on our lives whether that is stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, etc. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed and even alone at times. Unlike other animals our experiences connect us, we as humans have an ability to share in our triumphs and our tribulations.
The way we react to situations can be unhealthy sometimes. Lucky for us, we were not born this way! We developed different attachment styles from our childhood. These unique styles of attachment come from how our primary caregiver treated us. From an early age we create distortions that will change our trajectory for our entire lives. These distortions appear in one of four attachment styles. The four attachment styles are Secure, Anxious-Preoccupied, Dismissive-Avoidant, and Fearful-Avoidant. |
