“The power of words is that a life can be launched with as little as a single phrase, an uplifting word or an act of kindness. Think of the power we wield and the impact we can make if we become more intentional about encouraging our children. Our words are often the very things that help create future dreams. And sometimes those dreams are to be just like us” -Compassion International
When I was 16, I had the opportunity to visit an orphanage in Thailand. There I saw many young children who had nothing. Looking around, I realized that there were only a few workers, not nearly enough to meet the needs of all the children, not enough hands to pick up all of the crying babies. It sparked something deep inside my heart, it sparked the passion to help hurting children. Fast forward many years, and that passion to help kids is still there, stronger than ever. My desire to help children, first led me to the field of teaching. |

As a professional educator, I encountered many children, carrying emotional pain, who’ve had to face trials that I could never imagine. My heart ached for these kids and I knew I needed to do more. I went back to school and received a master’s degree from the University of North Texas in counseling, with an emphasis in school counseling and specialized training in play therapy.
Because it is my belief that true healing and peace come through Christ, I pursued training in Biblical Counseling through the Equipped to Counsel Program. I interweave Biblical Counseling and play therapy to create a unique environment where kids can feel safe, secure, and loved while they work through their heartaches. It is my hope that as children participate in Biblical play therapy they are introduced to the ultimate healer, Jesus Christ, and experience His healing powers.
Not only do I hope for healing for your child, but also for the whole family. I am passionate about listening to, emphasizing with, encouraging, and counseling parents. With three children of my own, I know how hard parenting can be!
A little bit about myself: I have been married for almost 15 years. I homeschool my three children. In my free time, I love camping, hiking, long walks and playing with my kids. I also enjoy fun cozy mysteries, “Friday Night Family Night” either with a movie or board game and almost always with pizza and ice cream.
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” — Fred Rogers, television personality
