Nutritional Counseling
COMING SOON TO JOYFUL RESTORATION!
When we think about counseling, it might be foreign for us to attach the word “nutrition” to it. We may think of counseling as the healthy avenue to deal with trauma, conflict in relationships, addiction and various other life circumstances that have left their marks. Here at Joyful Restoration and Wellness, we are excited to add a new aspect into the embodiment of counseling, and that is nutritional counseling for pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Taking a look into our diets can truly assist us in our growth!

Nutritional counseling is very important for individuals during periods of rapid growth/development like infants, children, adolescents, and during pregnancy/lactation.
Cara has extra training and experience working with women, infants, and children during pregnancy, postpartum, and in the early years where adequate nourishment is crucial to development. The mission of nutrition counseling is always seeking to improve the health and livelihood of the client. Your Registered Dietitian will perform an initial assessment, asking about your wellness goals/objectives, and reasons for wanting to make changes. In addition to reviewing your medical history and current medications and supplements, she will also ask about your lifestyle to get a sense of your current stress, sleep patterns, and physical activity levels. |

At Joyful Restoration Wellness, the focus is holistic wellness, and the goal is to nourish the whole person-mind, body, and spirit. The focus will be on intuitive eating and will aim towards helping the client develop a healthier relationship with food and become more attune to the needs of their body. Cara has experience providing nutrition counseling for a wide variety of clients/patients seeking to improve their health. Anyone can benefit from discussing their diet patterns with a Registered Dietitian. Early intervention and education can prevent chronic diseases from developing and/or slow their progression if you already have a medical diagnosis. If you have a medical diagnosis, your insurance may cover the counseling you receive from a Registered Dietitian. This service is called ‘Medical Nutrition Therapy’, when part of your treatment plan includes nutrition/lifestyle changes.
The following are just a few of the most common conditions that can benefit specifically from dietary interventions:
