Play Therapy
Some children can have trouble expressing their thoughts and emotions and it can be very discouraging. This can look like constant temper tantrums, misbehaving, and acting out at home or school. This is why we offer Play Therapy for children ages 4-12. We believe that children should have a safe and secure outlet to communicate how they are feeling in a healthy manner. Playing can reduce feelings of stress and boredom, as it allows the child to express their own creativity, and allows them to develop their imagination. It is a way for children to learn and to develop new skills. We have a room that is full of toys and books dedicated to play therapy. We encourage the child to express themselves through the use of the toys in the room to allow the child to better understand their thoughts and feelings, and to better love themselves. When children love and understand their own individuality, it can help them to have better relationships. As your child expresses themselves in the playroom, we will share what we see as they are playing and you may share the context of why they may behave in certain manners. This will help you to better connect and empower your child to be their best self. If a child has been deprived of playtime, they may develop depression, a lack of self-control, and isolation. But through the play therapy you can expect your child to find new ways to solve problems, enhance their communication with others, express themselves in healthier ways, and become more respectful. This form of therapy can help with children who have witnessed something traumatic, have serious illnesses, learning disabilities, social problems, behavior disorders, anxiety, depression, and any attention disorders. Play therapy allows your child to have healthy brain development and to function in the real world.
