Meg Hamilton, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor & Marriage and Family Therapist
We are born as relational beings looking for others to connect with and trust. When early relationships are unavailable or traumatic this leads to unhealthy ways of relating to others and getting needs met. As a therapist I work with couples, families and individuals in discovering their unhealthy ways of communicating and coping with stress and replacing these with healthier skills. I specialize in early developmental trauma, attachment issues, marriage and couple work, anxiety, depression, addiction and parenting.
While I was born in Washington D.C., I grew up in the Hill Country of south-central Texas. I received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX, where I began working as a nurse. During that time, I also married my husband of 30 years now. After living in beautiful east Texas for ten years we moved to Dallas and raised our four children. As our kids grew up, I attended Amberton University where I graduated with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. And while I love learning (especially in the field of mental health), my interests also include exploring new places as well as historical sights, camping, reading and gardening.
